Best Applications: Daiwa Freshwater Baits

Jerkbaits-

HMKL Minnow (Steez Custom): Designed by one of the top lure designers in Japan, the HMKL's was engineered to be one of the best bass fishing baits on the market. However, it can also be fished for a wide range of species where a jerkbait would excel, such as striper, bluefish, salmon, steelhead, snook and speckled trout. An ultra slim and sleek design is universal enough to match many different forage types, allowing you to fish this bait in many places across the country. A circuit board bill—the first ever on a jerkbait-- gives the HMKL benefits that similarly built crankbaits have: extra durability, a slim profile bill for ultra-realism and immediate response to action from the sensitivity of the carbon fiber material. The bait will track down to around 6' deep and suspend when the retrieve is paused, keeping you in the strike zone longer.  An internal weight transfer system allows for long casts- a key component when fishing in areas where the bite is tough and other baits don't seem to be doing the trick. All features of this bait are designed to give you the edge when fishing is tough and other baits just won’t get bit. If you are looking for a top-of-the-line jerkbait that allows you to fish effectively even in tough conditions, the HMKL is designed just for you.

Double Clutch: A bait we brought back by popular demand. This is the perfect jerkbait to fish when you are looking for a shorter, slimmer profile than a standard jerkbait. A technique some refer to as "finesse jerkbait fishing"- when the fish are keyed in on smaller forage than usual. Internal dampening washers also keep lure noise to a minimum to enhance the finesse appeal of the bait. The profile of the Double Clutch allows you to have the best of both worlds: cast well and get down to the strike zone like you would generally get with a larger bait, but also keep that super slim profile to match the hatch.

TD Minnow: This is the perfect jerkbait to fish when you are looking for a more "standard" shallow water jerkbait presentation. When fish are keyed in on schooling bait fish in the shallows, the erractic action of the TD Minnow is the solution.

SC Shad: A bait that is designed to work well across a wide range of species and waterways, even allowing for light trolling applications. Excellent on lakes, rivers, and streams for a multitude of different species, at just 1/8 of an ounce, this is the perfect bait for many different fisheries where you are fishing on lighter setups.

Dr Minnow: Originally designed for trout fishing, the Dr. Minnow works well for any species you are targeting on ultra-light setups such as perch, crappie, bluegill, and sunfish. With a thin body and a small bill, the bait dances on the retrieve and is a killer on the dead stick. The bait comes in three sizes ranging from 3/32oz up to 1/4oz, making it the perfect bait for many different fisheries where you are using light line on an ultralight setup.

Soft Baits-

Neko Straight: The Neko Rig is always a great option for finesse fishing. While most anglers use a weightless worm, the nail weight in the Neko Rig gives anglers the ability to use heavier gear and reach fish in deeper water, where weightless worms just aren’t practical to fish. Also, a great option for a wide range of your standard worm rigging applications such as dropshot, Texas rig, split shot rig, wacky rig, ned rig, Carolina rig, or fished on a darter head/shakey head. Neko Straight comes in 2 sizes, 5.8" and 6.5".

Neko Fat: Features a thick body like that of a Yamamoto Senko and comes equipped with a bulbous tail, which provides a unique, quivering action. A great choice fished weightless; it is also deadly on a Neko Rig with a nail weight in the head. This is the perfect option to tie on when you are fishing "finesse" techniques, but you are looking for a bait with a bit larger profile and action than a standard Neko Straight. Also, a great option for a wide range of your standard worm rigging applications that call for a thicker profile bait such as Texas rig, split shot rig, wacky rig, ned rig, Carolina rig, or fished on a darter head/shakey head. Some of the Daiwa pros even like to get creative and fish a Neko Fat as a bladed jig trailer because of its slim size and great action. Neko Fat comes in 2 sizes, 4" and 5".

Neko Macho: Versatile enough to be fished with standard soft plastic rigs such as Texas rigs or Carolina rigs, it's larger size also allows this bait to be used for heavier applications such as punching or flipping.
